Immigration Planning Levels
Why Australia Facts About Australia
The Migration Program numbers are decided annually, usually in May or June. They outline the visa numbers reached, or expected to be reached, for each migration category (Family, Skill and Special Eligibility).
Migration Program numbers do not include people arriving under the separate Humanitarian Program or those arriving as non-Program migrants (for example, New Zealanders).
The Migration Program figures are made up of the total number of visas issued overseas, plus the number of permanent residence approvals for people who have come to Australia as temporary entrants, and then applied to remain permanently.
