Applications must be submitted using the correct visa application form, accompanied by the relevant lodging visa, and lodged online or with the appropriate visa office. Often there are many procedural steps which must be completed prior to lodging. In addition, applicants may be required to undergo a medical examination in certain situations. Therefore, the entire process can be a little confusing.

Most applicants can lodge their Working Holiday Visa online with the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC). It is also possible to lodge the application at your closest Australian visa office.

Currently, the processing time for Working Holiday Visa applications lodged online are normally finalised within two (2) working days. In some instances, applications may need to be referred to an Australian Immigration Office in Australia for further processing. Referred applications may take up to four (4) weeks to finalise. Similarly, applications lodged by mail can take up to four (4) weeks to be finalised.
