Parent Visa Online Assessment

If you have children who are permanent residents living in Australia or Australian Citizens and you wish to join them then you may be eligible for a Parent Visa.

The Parent Migration Program enables Australian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their parents to migrate to Australia. There are also temporary residency Parent Visa subclasses.

To be eligible for Parent Migration, you must be the biological or step parent of an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen child. You must also pass the 'Balance of Family Test', which dictates that at least half of your children must live permanently in Australia; or you must have more children living permanently in Australia than in any other single country.

You must be sponsored by your child, or another adult, who has been settled in Australia as a citizen or permanent resident for at least 2 years. Your sponsor must provide a legal undertaking to support you during your first two years in Australia.

You must also satisfy health and character requirements for permanent entry to Australia.

Given there are numerous visa subclasses in the Parent Migration Program each with slightly different requirements, a Registered Migration Agent can advise you of same and if eligible detail the most appropriate visa subclass to apply for via the Level 1 Service advice document.
