Spouse / Interdependency Visas

Successful applicants receive a 2 year Temporary Visa which entitles work rights in Australia, as well as access to Medicare and certain other forms of social security benefits.

At the second stage of processing at the end of the initial 2 year period, the applicant's relationship is re-assessed to determine whether the requirements are met and if successful a Permanent Residency visa is granted. Permanent residents have the right to live, work and study in Australia indefinitely.

Prospective Marriage (Fiancé) Visa

Successful applicants receive an initial 9 month Temporary Residency Visa. During this period the visa holder is permitted to work. However, Prospective Marriage (Fiancé) Visa holders do not have access to Medicare or other social security entitlements. During this 2 year period, holders are still required to pay overseas student charge if studying.

Once legally married, applicants should apply for the Spouse Visa onshore. If successful this entitles holder to a 2 year Temporary Residency Visa. You can work in Australia, as well as access to Medicare and some other forms of social security benefits. During this 2 year period, holders are still required to pay overseas student charge if studying.

Upon completion of the 2 year period, the relationship will be re-assessed to determine whether Permanent Residence will be granted. As a permanent resident, you have the right to live, work and study in Australia indefinitely.
